Funke Akindele Omotunde Ogundimu support included prayer and a large undisclosed gift after the actress appealed for help with cervical cancer treatment

Nollywood actress Omotunde Apinke Ogundimu said colleague and filmmaker Funke Akindele had called her, prayed for her and sent a large sum toward cervical cancer treatment.

Omotunde Apinke Ogundimu had spoken to Biola Bayo about the illness and asked Nigerians for help, saying the pain was severe. She later wrote that the first call of the morning came from Funke Akindele and that she had not expected it.

“The first call I got this morning was from Funke. I was really surprised cos I wasn’t expecting it. Chaii! God is just too good to me. Pls help me pray for Funke Akindele for blessing me this morning towards my cancer treatment; she gave me a huge amount of money ni. Iya Ibeji, God will never forsake you, Laila. You will forever continue to grow from strength to strength.”

The amount was not published. The gift is a private transfer after a public appeal, not a full account of her medical costs. Cervical cancer treatment in Nigeria often runs long and expensive.
