The album’s release date, 18th April 2025, coincides precisely with the scheduled release of Davido’s fourth studio album, also titled “5ive,” prompting speculation about a deliberate challenge.

This move comes after a prolonged period of public acrimony between the two artists, stemming from allegations by Dammy Krane that Davido owed him royalties from a past collaboration. Their once-close friendship deteriorated, culminating in a series of online attacks and accusations.

In 2024, Dammy Krane’s relentless accusations, including claims of Davido’s involvement in the deaths of associates, led to his arrest by the Nigerian police.

Davido eventually broke his silence, publicly labelling Dammy Krane “ungrateful.” Dammy Krane was later released after issuing an apology for his serious accusations.

Despite the apology, the announcement of Dammy Krane’s “5ive” album, released on the same day as Davido’s, indicates a resurgence of the conflict.

Fans and industry observers are now keenly anticipating the release, speculating about the potential for further public exchanges between the two artists.
