“With tears and regrets, I am openly putting this out to apologise for my misdeeds,” Azeez wrote. “I can never write my story without your name boldly written. I know I hurt you deeply, and the cut was so deep.”

He went on to highlight the emotional void her absence has created in his life, questioning who would now occupy the many roles she once filled.

He described missing their relationship and the support, guidance and encouragement she offered him.

“If you don’t forgive me, who is going to take your place in my life?” he asked. “Who is going to stand as my second mummy on my wedding day, scold me when I am wrong, and cheer me up when I am down?”

Azeez admitted to acting immaturely and accepted full responsibility for his behaviour, describing himself as the “house” Aiyeola helped build.
