The celebrated Nollywood actress and film producer made a rare appearance on the Dear Ife podcast hosted by Diary of a Naija Girl, where she clarified that her marriage to Mr Ezerika is not hidden but simply protected.

In her own words, privacy is not secrecy. Rather, it is a conscious choice she has made to preserve her peace.

“For clarity, my husband is not a secret. People who know me, know him. And for me, that’s enough. Like, I don’t know why I will sit down and be thinking, what am I proving?” she said during the interview.

Her words were calm yet assertive, revealing the pressure that public figures often face in their personal lives.

Kadiri, a mother of two, emphasised that her husband is present at family functions, public events, and even attends church with her. According to her, he plays an active role in their family’s public engagements. However, he personally prefers to maintain a low profile, something she deeply respects.

“We go to church together, we attend events together, my life is not as private as people think. In the events I organise, my husband is always there,” she added.

The discussion has reignited conversations around celebrity marriages in Nigeria, where fans often expect public displays of affection and constant online sharing. Kadiri’s approach, however, challenges that narrative by drawing a clear boundary between fame and family.

Many have interpreted her stance as an emotional but measured response to years of speculation about her marriage. For years, fans had noticed that unlike some of her colleagues, she had chosen not to plaster images of her partner across social media platforms.

The curiosity grew stronger after the birth of her children, prompting even more online debate.

Kadiri’s comments now bring clarity to that decision. She believes that some aspects of life should remain intimate, not because they are hidden but because they are sacred. She firmly believes that oversharing could invite unnecessary drama and pressure into what is otherwise a peaceful union.

The actress also highlighted how her husband’s personality is naturally low-key. According to her, he is content staying behind the scenes, which aligns perfectly with how she wishes to handle their relationship publicly. “My husband prefers it this way. I don’t force him into the spotlight,” she said.

Fans have taken to social media to express support for her perspective. One follower wrote, “Ruth Kadiri is so right. You don’t need to show the world everything for it to be real.” Another added, “Privacy is peace. She’s living proof that you can be public and still protect what matters most.”

Kadiri’s honesty comes at a time when celebrity marriages are frequently scrutinised and occasionally sensationalised for public entertainment. Her refreshing openness may inspire others to reevaluate the balance between public life and personal peace.

As far as she is concerned, her marriage is solid, and those who matter in her life already know the truth. Her focus remains on her family, career, and creating meaningful content that reflects who she is—not on appeasing online critics.
