During a sermon at COZA 12DG on “wealth and timing,” Ashimolowo highlighted the difference between using N20 million to build a house, as Peters did, and using the same amount to establish a bank, like Ovia.

He stated, in part:

“One man is now fixing leaking roofs, broken toilets, doors that don’t shut anymore. The other sees a branch in every African country he goes to. Delay your gratification, God will lift you up.”

The sermon sparked backlash online, with netizens, including singer Daddy Showkey, condemning the cleric for what they described as mocking Shina Peters’ career.

In response, Peters took to Instagram on Wednesday, describing the cleric’s statement as “false and derogatory.”

While expressing gratitude to Daddy Showkey for bringing the matter to his attention, Peters emphasized that he would not pursue legal action, citing his commitment to the body of Christ.

He wrote:

I’m not one to judge people and their opinions of me, but as a man of God myself, and for the sake of the legacy of our Christ Jesus, I will not be taking legal actions nor will I speak ill against you, despite your false & derogatory statements.

God has really blessed me beyond words, you can’t even begin to imagine the blessings of God upon my life all these decades.

On the other hand, God being a loving father that He is, has also blessed you, His son, @matthewashimolowo.official.
How we use our blessings to set good examples for people is what matters now.

May God almighty continue to bless all my fans all over the world. Amen.
