Speaking on the popular podcast The Honest Bunch, the 37-year-old music icon (as reported by some tabloids) shared that his journey into music began at just 10 years old. By 13, he had already bought his first car, and at 14, he became a father.

The veteran performer, whose rhythmic sound helped shape Nigeria’s modern music scene, reflected on his early struggles, legal troubles, and the faith that sustained him through turbulent times.

“I started young, and I faced a lot — but music and God kept me going,” he said.

Sir Shina Peters, often celebrated for his electrifying stage presence and infectious beats, also made a heartfelt revelation about his strongest fanbase. He disclosed that the majority of his supporters come from Nigeria’s South-East region.

“About 65% of my fans are Igbos, not Yoruba,” he said. “They kept asking me, ‘Give us another music, give us this.’”
