Skales claims he inspired Burna Boy before his rise to stardom, crediting their 2017 collaboration as pivotal to Burna Boy’s career breakthrough.

 

 

Nigerian artist Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, famously known as Skales, has revealed that he played a pivotal role in shaping Burna Boy’s career trajectory.

Speaking during an interview with Naija FM in Lagos, the singer asserted that prior to their collaboration on the 2017 track Temper Remix, Burna Boy had yet to release a major hit song.

Reflecting on their partnership, Skales remarked, “I inspired Burna Boy. He will agree with me. So, nobody helped anybody. We probably admire ourselves and decided to work together.”

The Port Harcourt-born Burna Boy, now a global sensation, reportedly began gaining momentum in the music industry following their collaboration.

While Skales acknowledged his influence on Burna Boy’s career, he was quick to point out the mutual inspiration they have drawn from each other over the years.

“It was after our collaboration that he started excelling,” Skales explained. “I’m not trying to take credit for his success, but he has inspired me over the years, and I believe I inspired him at a point, too.”

Highlighting the importance of collaboration in the music industry, Skales noted that such partnerships are essential for mutual growth and promoting talent. “The essence of collaboration is to support and promote each other,” he concluded.
