Tacha relocates to UK

Former BBNaija star Tacha explains her move to the UK, citing challenges in Nigeria’s influencing scene and the need for better opportunities.

Former Big Brother Naija star Natacha Anita Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has shed light on her decision to relocate to the United Kingdom.

The reality TV sensation recently revealed her reasons in an interview with British media personality Madame Joyce, stating she had “conquered” the Nigerian market and sought new opportunities abroad.

Tacha explained that while she remains open to Nigerian deals, the current financial landscape of the influencing industry in Nigeria no longer meets her expectations.

“I relocated to the UK because I have conquered the whole of the Nigerian market. Relocating to the UK doesn’t mean I’m not going to do Nigerian deals. If the offer is good, why not?” she shared.

She also highlighted the challenges influencers face in Nigeria, where earnings often fail to match the effort required.

“The influencing scene in Nigeria looks so beautiful, but behind the scenes, it’s not as beautiful as it seems because the money is poor.

Someone would pay you N6 million, that’s around $3,000, for you to influence for six months and post two videos a month.

“The fee was the same when I left the Big Brother Naija show in 2019, but it made sense then. At least, you could book a plane ticket with it.

But right now, $3,000 is nothing. N6 million seems good, but when you have to convert it to dollars, travel abroad, and spend money to look good, there’s nothing left.”

Tacha’s candid remarks have sparked conversations about the economic realities of Nigeria’s influencing industry, with many noting the financial strain of maintaining a high-profile image amidst global currency disparities.

Despite her relocation, Tacha reassured her fans that she remains committed to collaborating with Nigerian brands if the terms align with her expectations.
