Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba has died at the age of 40, bringing an outpouring of grief from colleagues and fans across Nigeria’s film industry.

News of the actress’s death was announced on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, by fellow actor Alesh Sanni, who shared the heartbreaking update on social media. As of the time of reporting, the cause of death had not been made public.

In an emotional Instagram post, Sanni described Osoba as a cherished friend and colleague whose passing had left him devastated.

“Couldn’t sleep since last night, it’s well. Rest in peace my dearest sister, Temitope Osoba. We had amazing time and good memories together, till we meet again. I really dunno what to say mehn, gosh,” he wrote.

Actress Adeyemo Seilat also paid tribute, mourning the loss of another young life.

“Sigh! I hate to hear about the death of young people. Life is vanity! Rest in peace Tope Osoba. May you find eternal rest,” she wrote.

The news has come as a painful shock to many within the Yoruba film industry, particularly because Osoba had publicly shared her remarkable recovery from cancer and her determination to rebuild her career.

In August 2025, the actress announced her return to Nollywood after describing her treatment as a life-changing experience that reshaped both her personal life and professional ambitions.
