Tonto Dikeh has revealed how she secured what she described as her first billion naira deal, attributing the breakthrough to discipline, professionalism and maintaining clear personal boundaries.

According to Tonto Dikeh, she deliberately avoided taking advantage of personal connections, even with influential individuals she admired or respected.

“I learned something early: the more I loved and respected you, the more careful I became around you,” she wrote.

She explained that her decision to maintain distance was not driven by pride but by discipline and a desire to avoid abusing privileged access.

For years, the actress said she believed her behaviour made her appear “too different” or even “weird” to people around her.

However, she noted that the same attitude later became the reason she was trusted with a powerful business opportunity that transformed her life financially.

“I landed a job that changed my life, my first billion from a single deal. The truth? I wasn’t the most qualified. So I had to ask why me?” she said.

According to Tonto Dikeh, the contractor behind the deal, whom she described as a prominent African figure, told her that her respect for boundaries and refusal to exploit access distinguished her from others.

The actress also used the moment to caution against entitlement in both personal and professional relationships.

“Access is a privilege, not an entitlement,” she added.
