Youths Begin Protests on Mohbad’s Demise In Ondo and Lagos State

In a recent development, plans for two separate protests have surfaced in Nigeria, each aimed at seeking justice for the late Nigerian music sensation, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad. The first protest is set to commence today in Akure at Paneke Skating Ground, while the second, scheduled for Wednesday, will take place at Elegushi beach, Victoria Island, Lagos, and is being championed by celebrities.

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has taken charge of organizing the Lagos leg of the protest and announced that her NGO, Pinkies Foundation, will submit a letter to the Lagos state government in advance of the rally on Wednesday. During an Instagram live session, the actress urged celebrities nationwide to participate in the event, emphasizing the need for unity and collective action to ensure justice for Mohbad.

In her impassioned call to action, Iyabo Ojo directed her message to Governor Sanwo-Olu, urging him to use his office to oversee a thorough investigation into Mohbad’s death. She emphasized the importance of justice and accountability, highlighting that Mohbad had called for help during his lifetime, but his cries were not adequately heeded, ultimately leading to his tragic demise.

Addressing the situation, she stated, “Governor Sanwo-Olu, I want you to use your good office sir. We need you to see to it that all these investigations are carried out. We don’t want an audio investigation. Mohbad was everybody’s child… Ensure that justice is served in this case.”

Expressing condolences, the SDP, through its South-West Zonal Secretary, Mr. Femi Olaniyi, extended sympathies to the late singer’s family and associates. The party emphasized the importance of peaceful expression to demand justice and encouraged all concerned parties to seek resolution without resorting to violence.
