Yul Edochie says Peter Obi could still become Nigeria’s president in 2031, sparking mixed reactions online

Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has stirred online debate after claiming that Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi still has a chance of becoming Nigeria’s president in 2031.

Yul Edochie made the remarks while discussing Nigeria’s political landscape following the 2023 general elections, suggesting that Obi’s influence remains significant despite his defeat.

According to the actor, Peter Obi’s popularity during the last election cycle was so strong that several candidates allegedly benefited from associating with his name during campaigns.

“Peter Obi has chances of being Nigerian president in 2031, after Tinubu. In 2023, even Okada man used his name to win elections,” he said.

He added that while Obi’s influence helped shape political outcomes in 2023, the former Anambra State governor still did not secure the presidency.

The comments have since generated mixed reactions across social media, with users divided over both Obi’s political future and Yul Edochie’s analysis.

Some users agreed with the actor’s assessment, arguing that Obi remains one of the most influential political figures in Nigeria’s recent electoral history.

Others criticised the statement, questioning the logic behind his political interpretation and dismissing the prediction as speculative.

Peter Obi, who ran under the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election, remains a central figure in Nigeria’s opposition politics ahead of future electoral cycles.
