Adunni Ade dismisses rumours about her age, saying she is not turning 50 or 48, and jokes about Nigerians’ obsession with celebrity ages

Nigerian actress Adunni Ade has addressed circulating rumours about her age, insisting that she is neither turning 50 nor 48.

The confusion started when cinematographer Virtue sent her a direct message on Instagram offering to cover her supposed 50th birthday celebration for free next year.

Virtue’s message read: “Hello, mama. Good afternoon. My name is Virtue, I’m a Cinematographer, my brand handle is @virtueshotit. I would love to cover your 50th birthday event next year for free. Just lemme know when you’re prepping and the venue when you’re ready.”

Adunni Ade responded with humour, poking fun at Nigerians’ obsession with celebrity ages while advising Virtue to focus on developing his craft.

She also suggested that she might consider hiring him for a future event.

In a post on social media, she wrote: “I don laugh, Taya! I know @virtueshotit means well, but I can’t stop laughing. Nigerians sey you people can see what you’ve caused bayi?? For the very, very, very, very, very last time! I am not 48 Abi 49 de ni. You people can be obsessed with age! Ah! E jooooo ooooo! Don’t add to my sikini age oooo. E go still tey small. T for thanks …@virtueshotit, try posting more so I can see how good you are. Maybe at my next party I’ll contact you.”
