Aremu Afolayan had earlier faced backlash after a viral video showed him praising President Tinubu while suggesting that insecurity in Nigeria was not as severe as portrayed.

The comments triggered strong reactions from Nigerians online, who accused him of being insensitive to the country’s economic hardship and security challenges.

Following the controversy, Aremu later released a public apology video on Instagram, stating that his remarks were misunderstood and acknowledging that insecurity in Nigeria remains a serious issue.

Reacting to the situation, Biodun Okeowo urged the public to accept his apology, describing him as genuinely remorseful.

She said, “Aremu is sincerely sorry.”

According to her, after watching his apology video, she could see that he was truly regretful and understood the impact of his earlier comments.

She added that although the statement initially caused anger, Aremu had taken responsibility and expressed genuine remorse.

“He has reflected deeply and recognises the weight of his words. Please let’s forgive and stop the curses!” she said.

The actress further emphasised that Aremu did not intend to offend Nigerians but admitted that his comments were poorly received and misunderstood.
