DJ Sabby and Hope Mbhele lead Corona Sunsets Festival 2026 broadcast on SABC 1 and SABC Plus with music, art, and golden-hour experiences

Metro FM breakfast host Sabelo “DJ Sabby” Mtshali and actress Hope Mbhele guided the live broadcast of the corona sunset festival 2026 from The Glen Country Club in Clifton, Cape Town, bringing one of South Africa’s most iconic golden-hour music events to viewers nationwide via SABC 1 and SABC Plus.

The Cape Town edition featured headline performances from Grammy Award-winners Purple Disco Machine and Zakes Bantwini, alongside Sun-El Musician, Msaki, DJ Kent, Liquideep, Mila-Rose, Blakongo, Roz b2b Housewife, Meek, and a special sunset set by the Ndlovu Youth Choir.

DJ Sabby, recognised for hosting major award shows including the South African Music Awards and Back To The City festival, led audiences through the performances and immersive festival experiences.

Hope Mbhele, making her Corona Sunsets Festival debut, brought a dynamic presence honed through roles in Uzalo and Shaka iLembe, engaging audiences across television and digital platforms.

The broadcast captured the festival’s signature Sunset Moment, aerial performances, interactive art installations, curated wellness experiences, creative expression zones, drum circles, and sustainable food activations, extending the event beyond music into a fully immersive cultural celebration.

Melanie Nicholson, Head of Brand at Corona South Africa, said the festival’s return to national television allowed the golden-hour experience to reach homes across the country, emphasising the brand’s commitment to celebrating South African culture.

Dichaba Phalatse, Marketing Manager for SABC Video Entertainment, noted that the broadcast reinforced SABC 1’s role in shaping live entertainment experiences for national audiences.

DJ Sabby described hosting the Cape Town edition as “a full-circle moment” and highlighted the significance of reconnecting with Hope Mbhele on stage.

Mbhele added that sharing the festival’s energy with viewers across the country felt “like being part of something bigger than just a show,” celebrating nature, creativity, and communal connection.

The Corona susnset festival 2026 broadcast built on the success of Johannesburg’s televised edition, positioning the festival as a national cultural television moment where performance, atmosphere, and audience engagement converge.

The festival aired on Saturday, 21 March 2026, from 19:30 to 21:30 on SABC 1 and streamed via SABC Plus.
