Jim Iyke single mothers remarks spark debate after Nollywood star claims women can’t raise boys into proper men without male influence

Nollywood actor James Ikechukwu Esomugha, popularly known as Jim Iyke, has stirred controversy with his claim that single mothers cannot raise their boy children to become “proper men.”

The actor made the statement during an interview with Okay 101.7 FM in Accra, Ghana, stressing that women are “not built to raise men.”

“A woman can’t raise a man. You’re not built for it. A single mother cannot raise a man properly,” Jim Iyke said.

According to him, for a boy to grow into a real man, the presence of a male figure is essential.

“You need a male influence – go get your brother that’s doing well, your father, or even any man that you trust. There has to be a male presence,” he explained.

Jim Iyke argued that women are naturally wired to nurture and love but lack the discipline component necessary for molding boys into strong men.

“What you’re going to raise is a very weak man, and he is going to be everything like the men that left you. You need somebody that would discipline him, tell him ‘No’ as often times as possible, and put him in the grind,” he added.

The comments by the Nollywood star have already sparked heated debate on social media, with many questioning whether his views undermine the struggles and successes of single mothers who have raised accomplished men.
