Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw asserts that Nigerian laws and cultural perceptions are designed against women, fostering a view of them as “lesser beings.”

Famous Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has claimed that Nigerian laws are fundamentally designed against women, asserting that Nigerian men are “wired to see women as lesser beings.”

Speaking in her latest interview on Arise TV, the veteran actress argued that even “the violence against persons prohibition laws” are skewed against women.

Henshaw elaborated on her perspective, referencing biblical creation to underscore her point: “God first created man, no doubt, but He brought the woman out from the side, and not from under the man’s feet. He created the woman not to be beneath the man but beside, to reign beside him, to be fruitful, multiply and grow together.”

But Nigerian men see women as less human. Even our laws, the violence against persons prohibition laws favours men. A man is allowed to chastise his wife. Why?

She then contrasted this with her observation of societal attitudes and legal frameworks in Nigeria.
