The actor, widely known for portraying Olumide Kuti in the MultiChoice-produced drama series, disclosed this during a recent interview with TVC Entertainment.

Adediwura explained that although the role elevated his public profile, the project was not financially rewarding and restricted him from accepting other acting opportunities for nearly a year.

According to the actor, the demanding production schedule prevented him from participating in outside projects within the wider film industry.

“I came out of ‘Wura’, and I was spending more than I made. I came out poorer,” Adediwura said during the interview.

The actor added that he struggled financially for several months after leaving the series before eventually finding stability through YouTube content creation.

“It was YouTube that got me the stability,” he said.

Adediwura also claimed that some promises made during negotiations for the project were not fulfilled.

The actor disclosed that his commitment to the production cost him other major opportunities, including a role in the movie House of Ga’a.

According to Adediwura, filmmaker Bolanle Austen-Peters contacted him to work on the film’s English-to-Yorùbá translation, and he was initially expected to play the role of Aláàfin Abiodun.

The revelation triggered strong reactions on social media, with many viewers expressing mixed opinions about the actor’s decision and his experience on the series.

Some users argued that the show gave Adediwura valuable exposure and increased visibility in the entertainment industry, while others sympathised with his financial struggles and criticised working conditions within television productions.

Several fans also lamented the replacement of key cast members in later seasons of the show, describing it as a major reason for losing interest in the series.
