‘Mohbad vomited and collapsed after he was injected’ – Mohbad’s DJ tells court

Ajisegiri Ayobami, the Disc Jockey (DJ) of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, best known as Mohbad, who was with him before he died, revealed during the coroner’s inquest in Ikorodu on Wednesday that the deceased singer began to vomit following an injection given to him by a nurse. He threw up the noodles he ate, prepared by his younger brother Adura Aloba.

The witness claimed that the previous day, which was a Sunday, they had gone to a show in Ikorodu. On the way back, their Prado Jeep was blocked, and he witnessed Mohbad get out of his vehicle to fight his childhood Primeboy and then sustained injury in the process.

Ayobami further revealed to the coroner court that the injury was a minor cut on his hand, but that it had already gotten swollen by the time they arrived home at midnight.

He claimed that when they attempted to reach Mohbad’s personal nurse, she responded that she was unavailable. Consequently, one of their team members contacted Spending (Mohbad’s friend), who mentioned that he had a nurse. They then called the nurse, who arrived to give the singer an injection. Mohbad, according to Ayobami, was alright before the nurse arrived but slept off before receiving his injection.

Ayobami stated that there was water on Mohbad’s room floor so he went to grab a mop to clean the floor. However, Mohbad’s wife called out to him from upstairs, telling him to return to the room immediately. He reported that upon arriving, he observed that Mohbad had passed out on the floor, vomited the Indomie Noodles he had eaten, and he had goosebumps all over his body.

He said, “The nurse said we should go and get him drugs; while we were at the pharmacy, I called the house to know how he was feeling, and they said I should come back.

“When I got back, they were already outside trying to put him in a neighbour’s car to get him to the hospital, but the way I saw him, he was lifeless, his eyes were closed, and his hands were falling.

“While we were going to the hospital, there was traffic, so I came down from the other vehicle and ran to the hospital; I asked them if they had an ambulance, and they said no. Before I could get back to them, I saw them bringing Mohbad on a bike, and when we got to the hospital he was confirmed dead,” the witness said.
