Ned Nwoko denies chasing Regina Daniels for marriage, insists actress married him at 19 and was introduced by her mother, Rita Daniels

Ned Nwoko Regina Daniels marriage controversy has deepened as the Senator representing Delta North, Ned Nwoko, dismissed claims that he pursued his estranged wife, actress Regina Daniels, for marriage.

Nwoko made the clarification while reacting to widespread criticism and renewed public debate surrounding his six-year-old marriage to the Nollywood star.

The latest controversy follows Regina Daniels’ recent social media post, where she accused the lawmaker of domestic violence and declared her decision to end their marriage.

In response, Nwoko alleged that the actress had issues with substance abuse and insisted she must undergo rehabilitation.

The public fallout quickly drew sharp criticism from Nigerians, including celebrities and rights advocates, who accused the senator of marrying Regina when she was still a minor and demanded his resignation from the Senate.

However, in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) through his Communication and Technical Action Team, Nwoko denied the allegations, asserting that he neither pursued nor coerced Regina into marriage.

“For clarity, Regina Daniels was born on October 10, 2000. If she has been married to me for six years, that means she married at 19 and not 17,” the statement read.

“The public witnessed her family giving her away in marriage. There were witnesses to the fact that her mother personally brought her to me. I never went after her.”

The senator maintained that his union with Regina was transparent and lawful, refuting social media claims suggesting otherwise.

Nwoko also expressed concern over what he described as deliberate attempts to distort facts about his personal life for political and emotional sensationalism.
