Laide Bakare Eniola Badmus Fight: Actresses clash at ‘Owambe Thieves’ premiere, escalating into public accusations of betrayal and past grievances over looks and career help

A bitter feud between Nollywood actresses Laide Bakare and Eniola Badmus has exploded publicly following a heated argument at the premiere of Eniola Ajao’s movie, “Owambe Thieves.”

The tense exchange at the event nearly turned physical and has since spilled onto social media, with both actresses trading accusations.

Eyewitness footage captured at the premiere shows a visibly upset Laide Bakare confronting Eniola Badmus as she entered the venue, directing angry words towards her, which Eniola appeared to ignore.

The situation escalated further when Laide took to her Instagram page, sharing a screenshot of a private message from Eniola expressing her anger over Laide posting a photo of them together. In the message, Eniola labelled Laide’s behaviour as “terrible animalistic” and demanded she stay away.

Laide responded fiercely in her post, reminding Eniola of a time when she claimed to have given Eniola her first significant acting opportunity, alleging that others were hesitant to work with Eniola due to her physical appearance. Laide stated she invested her own money in Eniola, only to be repaid with insults.

Her impassioned post read: “I gave you the first major role in your life when no one wanted to associate with you because of your ugly looks and obesity. I spent my own hard-earned money on an ingrate like you; all you could pay me back with is to call me an animal? Haaa! ENIOLA! Almighty God will judge you, Insha Allah. You have started what you can’t finish, and I promise you, you must collect.”

This latest spat is not the first between the two actresses. In 2023, they had a public disagreement after Eniola seemingly mocked Laide’s outfit.

Laide retaliated by accusing Eniola and some colleagues of negativity towards her achievements. Eniola responded by bringing up past incidents, including alleged shaming over childlessness and Laide’s political support.

The current escalation is particularly notable as it comes shortly after the actresses were seen together at an event in Abuja, where Laide had expressed joy at reconnecting with Eniola, referring to her as a “big girl” and a “once upon a time friend.”

This recent reconciliation now appears to be firmly over, with a deeply personal and public feud reignited.
