Patrick Doyle: Joke Silva will never torture ailing husband even if he were to be wife beater

Patrick Doyle, the ace actor, says Joke Silva will never “take advantage” of Olu Jacobs’ “vulnerability to torture” her ailing husband.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Doyle said some women think Joke’s commitment to her ailing husband was due to his loyalty to her in the early years of their marriage.

The movie star said he is sure Silva will still have treated Jacobs with the same level of “love and devotion” even if he had been a “philander and wife-beater.”

“All those women hinging Joke Silva’s devotion to her ailing elderly husband on his devotion and care towards her in the early stages of the marriage have simply got it wrong,” he wrote.

“According to them, not so faithful and devoted husbands should not to expect the same kind of treatment in the twilight of their lives, they even go as far as telling such men to expect torment from their wives in old age. In their little minds they have concluded that Joke Silva shares this flawed philosophy of theirs.

“The Joke that I know would have still treated Uncle Olu with the same measure of love and devotion even if he were a philanderer and wife beater, which thankfully he was not.

“She would never have taken advantage of his vulnerability to torture him because, it’s simply not in her DNA to do so. She belongs to the old school where dignity and honour count and where doing the right thing is not contingent upon reciprocity.

“Salt may mimick sugar in appearance, but there is a difference. Let it be known that Joke Silva the wife of oludotu Jacobs and mother of Soji is not a member of the “Egbe Kini O’ko’ Ose’ Club”. (Wetin Husband Fit Do Sef).

“Joke Omoluabi, on behalf of all men perfect and flawed I say a big thank you.”

Last year, Silva revealed that her husband is battling dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB).

The ace actress also said Jacobs has been struggling with the ailment “for a couple of years” and “doesn’t understand what is going on.”

On Sunday, Jacobs marked his 80th birthday at an event which was graced by notable public figures.

In response to the comments made by the brother of the late Adejumoke Aderounmu regarding the actress’s demise, Funke Akindele has taken to her Instagram live to clarify some issues surrounding her life.

Recall that Aderounmu, popularly known for her role as Esther in Jenifa’s Diary, passed away in the early hours of Saturday, 8th April 2024.

However, the brother of the deceased 37-year-old actress called out Akindele for sending her condolences after allegedly ignoring her when she needed help.

It happened that Akindele commented on the brother’s condolence message to his late sister on an Instagram blog post, saying, “Sad!!!! @jideawobona I still asked about her. Omg. May her soul rest in peace.”

In response, Aderounmu’s brother, in a series of posts via his Instagram page, commended Nollywood stars Rita Dominic and Sotayo Gaga for reaching out to his sister, unlike Funke.

The deceased’s brother added that there was no point in showing love when Funke Akindele failed to do the same when his sister was alive.

He wrote: “You that they called tirelessly, you didn’t show up, she even sent Pascal to you, and still, you didn’t reach out. Why the eye service now when she has passed away? Omo, shout-out to Rita Dominic and Sotayo Gaga. Terrible person! If you want to defend anybody, it’s fine. After all, there is nothing we can do about it.

“But don’t be a hypocrite by changing the narrative. Nobody is feeling entitled! If you refuse to show love when a person is alive, don’t do eye service when the person has passed away, just look away, and nobody will question your matter.”

In a dedicated live video on Instagram, the tearful Akindele revealed her relationship with the late Aderounmu and defended herself against the allegations by the brother.

“I’m so unhappy because, practically, you don’t know what I’m going through. I work hard; round the clock,” tearful Akindele lamented.
