“Radio Voice” premiered, unveiling a story of a radio presenter’s public charm versus private struggles. The film, highlighting the Nigerian radio legacy, earned a standing ovation for its emotional depth

 

Richard Mofe-Damijo’s (RMD) latest production, “Radio Voice,” premiered in Lagos on Saturday, April 6th, marking a significant moment for the Nigerian film industry.

The feature film, produced by RMD’s production company, explores the complex life of a charismatic radio presenter, whose public persona masks deep personal struggles.

“Radio Voice” is described as a tribute to the Nigerian radio legacy, and a look at the pressures of maintaining a public image.

Directed by Isioma Osaje, “Radio Voice” delves into themes of media influence, self-identity, and the emotional burden of broadcasting. On the red carpet, Osaje expressed both pride and the weight of responsibility in bringing the story to life, stating, “One of the most meaningful stories I’ve ever had the privilege to tell.”

The premiere, hosted by Ariyiike Dimples, drew a crowd of Nollywood stars, industry executives, radio legends, and influencers, all dressed in their finest attire

. The screening concluded with a standing ovation, with attendees praising the film’s emotional depth and compelling performances. Early social media reactions highlighted the film’s power, nostalgia, and its timely message for media professionals.

RMD, in his address, emphasised the importance of storytelling that preserves Nigerian heritage, dedicating the film to “every radio personality who ever wondered if their voice was enough.” The film is set to open in cinemas nationwide on April 11, 2025.
