Nollywood actress Biodun Okeowo, also known as Omoborty, has shared a powerful message about being cautious when offering help to others.

In an Instagram post, she recounted a conversation with a colleague who received over 560 requests for assistance in his direct messages. The situation made her reflect on her own financial sacrifices made to support others.

“Help, but not at your own detriment,” she advised. “If you respond to every touching story, one day you’ll become one too. And sadly, the same people clapping now will ask, ‘What did you even do with your money?’”

Okeowo pointed out the emotional pressure tied to these requests, warning that many people use guilt to push others into giving beyond their means. While some of the appeals are genuine, she cautioned that fake stories also exist and can drain those with good intentions.

She encouraged her followers to set boundaries and put their own responsibilities first. “Everyone has their own struggles. Don’t let anyone make you feel bad for not being able to help,” she said.

Closing her post with a hopeful sentiment, Okeowo prayed that future generations would know ease and abundance, writing, “Even jollof rice no dey go round sometimes.”
