Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has sparked conversations after making a strong claim about the entertainment industry, describing it as an environment where self-worship and personal glorification often overshadow spirituality.

The veteran actor made the comments during an interview with journalist Joey Akan, where he discussed fame, creativity and his personal views on finding God while working in the entertainment space.

The Jim Iyke Entertainment Industry Claim centred on his belief that many people within the sector focus heavily on celebrating themselves rather than pursuing spiritual values.

“There is no bigger enabler than the entertainment industry. This is where demons live,” Iyke said during the conversation.

He argued that the industry often encourages individuals to place themselves at the centre of attention, adding that he believes excessive self-glorification conflicts with religious principles.

According to the actor, creativity itself reflects aspects of God’s nature because humans create and imagine new ideas. However, he said the structure surrounding entertainment can sometimes encourage unhealthy attitudes towards fame and recognition.

“As a creative, to create is to mimic God. But in the entertainment structure many serve self. You can’t serve God and serve self. That is a conflict of interest,” Iyke stated.

The actor also reflected on his own experiences with fame, acknowledging that public recognition can influence how entertainers view themselves.

Iyke said he had experienced moments where admiration from fans made him feel unusually important, but later came to understand the need for humility and spiritual grounding.

“When you extol yourself to god-like status when you think you should be worshipped or the laws should not apply to you anymore, you are literally worshipped,” he said.

He added that true significance comes from understanding one’s relationship with God rather than seeking validation through fame or public attention.

The actor’s comments have generated discussions among entertainment followers, with some agreeing with his concerns about celebrity culture while others have debated his broad description of the industry.
