Peter Obi congratulates Tems on her Grammy victory and celebrates other Nigerian artists nominated at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards

 

Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has offered heartfelt congratulations to Nigerian singer Tems following her recent victory at the 67th annual Grammy Awards.

Tems’ song *Love Me Jeje* won the coveted Best African Music Performance award, triumphing over nominees such as Yemi Alade’s *Tomorrow*, Asake and Wizkid’s *MMS*, Chris Brown’s *Sensational* (featuring Davido & Lojay), and Burna Boy’s *Higher*.

In a statement shared via his X handle on Monday, Obi expressed pride in Tems’ achievement, describing it as a significant milestone for Nigerian Afrobeats music on the global stage.

“I extend my hearty congratulations to our Nigerian Afrobeats star, Tems @temsbaby, who just secured her second Grammy Award with her win in the Best African Music Performance category,” Obi said.

Obi also took the opportunity to celebrate other Nigerian artists nominated across various categories, recognising their hard work and contributions to the global music industry.

“I also rejoice with Nigeria’s entertainment industry and other Nigerian artists who were nominated for different awards in their respective categories,” he added.

Reaffirming his commitment to fostering national development, Obi emphasised the importance of supporting young talent.
