Grammy-winning singer Tems cancels her Kigali concert over the Rwanda-DRC conflict, apologising for promoting the show unaware of tensions

Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Tems, has cancelled her highly anticipated *Born in the Wild* tour stop in Kigali, Rwanda, amid escalating tensions between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

The concert, originally scheduled for 22 March 2025, was called off as reports of conflict in the region intensified.

Tems took to Instagram to announce the cancellation, expressing her regret over promoting the show without prior knowledge of the ongoing political situation. In her heartfelt apology, she stated:

> “So I recently promoted my show in Rwanda without realizing there is an ongoing conflict between Rwanda and Congo. I never intend to be insensitive to real-world issues, and I sincerely apologize if this came across that way.”

The decision follows reports of escalating violence in the region, with the armed group M23— which broke away from the DRC army over a decade ago—announcing the capture of Goma, the capital of North Kivu province.

Rwanda has been accused of supporting the rebel faction, further straining relations between the two nations.

While fans in Rwanda expressed disappointment over the cancellation, many have praised Tems for acknowledging the geopolitical tensions and making a responsible decision.

No further details have been provided on potential rescheduling, and ticket holders are advised to await official updates from event organisers.
