Sophia Chisom, known as Soso, explains her approach to kissing scenes, saying professionalism should come before personal pleasure on set

Nollywood actress Sophia Chisom, popularly known as Soso, has said actors should approach onscreen kissing scenes as part of their professional duties rather than a source of personal pleasure.

Speaking during an interview with TVC, the actress reacted to comments by some actors who have claimed they have never experienced a satisfying kiss while filming romantic scenes.

Soso said it would be difficult for any male colleague to describe a kissing scene with her as pleasurable because she maintains clear personal boundaries while filming.

According to her, she does not use her tongue during kissing scenes and keeps the interaction limited in order to remain comfortable and professional on set.

“I don’t know if people kiss with their tongues but I do not kiss with my tongue. My teeth are always close during kissing scenes so it is just the lips. But because it is an act, we have to make it believable,” she said.

The actress explained that she is careful about physical contact during filming and does not believe actors should exchange saliva simply to make a scene appear realistic.

“Some people kiss with their tongues but I don’t think it is okay to swap saliva with every single person that you shoot with. Besides, it is a job,” she added.

Soso also questioned why some performers expect genuine romantic satisfaction from scenes designed for storytelling.

“So whenever I see a colleague complaining that they didn’t get a good kiss it is weird. You are not supposed to get a good kiss, it is a job,” she remarked.
