Speaking on X, Bolaji Ogunmola addressed the ongoing debate on royalties for actors, stressing that sustainable earnings must be backed by active participation and investment.

The Bolaji Ogunmola Nollywood support message comes amid growing calls within the industry for structured royalty systems to protect actors’ long-term earnings.

According to the actress, performers seeking royalties should consider taking ownership stakes in film projects by investing financially or accepting reduced upfront fees in exchange for backend profits.

“If you want royalties, back end. Put your money in the film. Negotiate a slashed fee or nothing at all for a percentage. Put body joor. Let’s all enjoy the benefit of the hard labour,” she said.

Bolaji Ogunmola also delivered a strong warning against piracy, describing it as a major threat to the growth and sustainability of Nollywood.

She criticised the habit of watching films on illegal platforms, noting that such actions undermine the industry’s ability to reward creativity and hard work.

“You can’t want lifetime royalties for actors and still be watching their film on pirated platforms now. Please, help us. Moviebox or Telegram is not the place to watch Nigerian content,” she added.

The Bolaji Ogunmola Nollywood support stance highlights the tension between industry demands for fair compensation and audience behaviour, particularly in the digital age.
