Former model Olajumoke Orisaguna reveals her painful experience with domestic abuse and how it derailed her once-promising career.

Olajumoke Orisaguna, famously known as “Olajumoke Onibread,” has revealed harrowing details about her marriage, accusing her ex-husband, Sunday Orisaguna, of domestic abuse and claiming his actions negatively impacted her once-thriving modelling career.

In a candid interview with City FM, the former bread seller turned model recounted years of physical and emotional abuse while living in her ex-husband’s family house in Ire, Osun State.

“He would not hear my own side of the story before beating me,” Olajumoke said, recalling instances where disagreements with her mother-in-law led to violent attacks. “Sometimes, he would even use a belt. My face and body would swell up from the beatings.”

Olajumoke revealed that despite the challenges, she stayed silent about the abuse to avoid worrying her mother, who lived nearby but chose not to interfere due to family dynamics.

The turning point came in January 2016, following an altercation during a family event. “After he beat me again, I decided I was done. I packed my things and took my two children to Lagos,” she said.

Her life took a remarkable turn later that year when she accidentally walked into a photoshoot featuring British rapper Tinie Tempah, photographed by TY Bello.

The serendipitous encounter catapulted her into the limelight, earning her modelling contracts and media attention.

However, Olajumoke said her separation from Sunday led to further challenges, including the spread of damaging rumours. “He started spoiling my name, and everything began to fall apart,” she stated.

Despite the setbacks, Olajumoke remains a symbol of resilience. Her story highlights the complex intersection of personal struggles and public life, reminding many of the importance of mental health and support for victims of abuse.
