“I was pregnant when I recorded ‘R.E.D’. I would be in the studio crying with my big belly. It was a struggle to record the album,” she revealed, offering fans a rare look behind the scenes of her creative process.

Savage explained that the physical changes she experienced meant that her vocal range was limited. As a result, she had to adjust several parts of the album to suit her new reality.

“I changed the key of some of the songs in the album because being pregnant affected how I could hit some notes,” she said.

Reflecting on her time at Mavin Records, Tiwa Savage spoke fondly of the support she received during those demanding months. She was the first female artist at the label to go through pregnancy, and her experience became a learning curve not just for her, but for her team as well.

“I was the first person to have a baby in Mavin. So whenever they noticed my energy going down, Jazzy would tell them to get me my cravings, which were eggs and bread,” she recounted with warmth and gratitude.
