Nollywood veteran actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo, has advised people to seek blessings from their fathers with their first salary rather than from their pastors.

The filmmaker made this known while giving his blessing to his son, Clinton Mbaise, who recently joined his production company, Simpliciter Associates Productions, as an assistant production manager and personal assistant to him.

In the video shared on Instagram on Thursday, Kanayo O Kanayo requested his son’s first salary as a Nollywood production manager assistant and also advised people to seek blessings from their fathers with their first salary rather than from their pastors.

“Take your first SALARY to your father for his blessings NOT TO YOUR PASTOR. And to that Pastor who said it belongs to him in a video in January, did you ever consider, the feeding/ transportation to and fro the office for that month? Where is this in the Bible?

“CHRISTIANS WAKE UP. This is not Christianity,” Kanayo captioned the video.

Speaking in the video, Kanayo said the amount of money a parent may recover from their child varies depending on the individual. Kanayo also emphasised that only a father can bless his child.

He said, “I want to observe a culture from our ancestors which has led to the progress of many people you see today, ”Father blessing.’

“Clinton my son just concluded a few production management with us and he has earned his first salary, his first salary is N50,000 for a movie.

“Clinton from your pocket in the N50,000 give me N500.

“The first salary of a young man, he goes to his father to say Nnayi my salary is N50,000, the father may decide to take the entire money, he may also decide to take any amount and his father will now bless him.

“The idea of his father asking him to know the salary is, so his father would teach him financial management.

“All you going to pastors to give your salary, you are wasting your time, is not part of our culture.”

Mbaise who graduated from Babcock University with a degree in Information and Communication Technology, recently joined the movie industry.

The veteran actor revealed that Mbaise will be joining his production company, emphasizing that his son is there to work and shouldn’t be given any preferential treatment.

Protests: It’s season of lies, don’t back down – Charly Boy tells Nigerian youths

Popular singer and activist, Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, better known as Charly Boy, has urged Nigerian youths not to back down on the planned nationwide protests against bad governance.

Charly Boy said those in power should embrace scrutiny and protest, not suppress it, if they are confident in their integrity.

He made this known in a post on his X handle on Wednesday, while dismissing a report asking Lagos residents to ignore the protest as the Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s government is already doing enough for them.

However, Charly Boy countered the advice, saying they resort to silencing dissenting voices and avoiding accountability because they have secrets to hide.

He said: “A Season of Lies, Wayo, Deceit, Propaganda and the more you Look………..

“If those in power are confident in their integrity, they should embrace scrutiny and protest, not suppress it. But when they resort to silencing dissenting voices and avoiding accountability, it’s clear they have secrets to hide. The ‘skeletons/cemeteries in their cupboard’ are a testament to their corruption and abuse of power.

“In a true democracy, governments must be transparent and answerable to the people. They should welcome criticism and engage in open dialogue, even when it’s uncomfortable. By doing so, they can earn trust and demonstrate their commitment to serving the public interest. But when they try to hide behind secrecy and intimidation, it’s a clear sign of guilt and a betrayal of the people’s trust.

“Nigerian youths don’t ever back down. If dem no fear us, dey can never respect us.

Nonsense. Dia fathers.”
