Nollywood actress Chizzy Alichi recounts her difficult pregnancy and the premature birth of her son, Kenechukwu, who spent 25 days in the NICU
Popular Nollywood actress Chizzy Alichi has shared a deeply personal and emotional account of her journey to motherhood following the birth of her first child, Kenechukwu.
In a heartfelt post on her Instagram account, the actress revealed that her son was born prematurely at just 30 weeks of gestation and subsequently spent a critical 25 days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
Chizzy described this period as the most challenging and difficult experience of her life. She recounted the various hurdles she faced throughout her pregnancy, including a medical condition that necessitated prolonged periods of bed rest both at home and in the hospital.
“I don’t even know where to start from,” she wrote. “But all I can say is thank you, God Almighty, for what you have done for me and my family.”

In her moment of desperation, Chizzy shared how she turned to her faith for strength and solace. She joined online prayer groups, diligently gave tithes to multiple churches, frequented the chapel, and actively engaged in acts of charity by visiting orphanages and extending help to those in need on the streets.
Emotionally, she also mentioned her frequent prayers with the portrait of her late father, seeking his strength and a sign of hope.
“I cried, I prayed… I did everything that came to my head,” she wrote, conveying the depth of her distress. “But God is too faithful to fail. Those who trust Him can never be put to shame.”
Now that her precious son, Kenechukwu, is finally home and thriving, Chizzy is overflowing with gratitude. “My cutest Kenechukwu is home and he’s perfect,” she added with immense joy.
Her story serves as a powerful testament to the challenges some women face during pregnancy and childbirth, as well as the strength and faith that can help navigate such difficult times.
