Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde’s directorial debut Mother’s Love surpasses ₦25 million at the Nigerian box office days after release

Actress and filmmaker Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has celebrated a box office milestone as her directorial debut, Mother’s Love, surpassed ₦25 million in ticket sales since its nationwide cinema release.

Distributor Nile Entertainment announced the achievement on Instagram on Monday, thanking audiences who have supported the drama since it opened in cinemas on March 6, following its Lagos premiere on March 1.

Mother’s Love just crossed ₦25M at the box office and the journey is far from over. Thank you to every single person who bought a ticket, brought a friend, called their crew/geng to watch,” the company wrote.

The film explores the life of Adebisi, a young woman raised in privilege whose experiences during her National Youth Service Corps year challenge her relationship with her protective mother.

The ensemble cast includes Omotola herself, alongside Ifeanyi Kalu, Noray Nehita, Lilian Afegbai, Nosa Rex, and Olumide Oworu.

Prior to its Nigerian cinema release, Mother’s Love was screened at international festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival and the Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles.

Singer Jodie recorded a special version of her song Kuchi Kuchi as the official soundtrack, adding a musical highlight to the film’s emotional narrative.
