In a heartfelt appearance on the Where is the Lie podcast on Thursday, 7 May 2026, the Nollywood actor recounted how his career was allegedly obstructed despite his continued efforts to secure acting roles and remain active in the industry.

Roy De-Nani claimed that a directive was once issued instructing producers not to employ him, a situation he said affected his opportunities for years.

“A man gave an order that nobody should give Roy De Nani a job again. For years, even when I was already recording, a producer would come in and say, ‘No, cancel it. Stop,’” he said.

The actor also opened up about personal grief, revealing that he received no industry support following the death of his brother, an experience he described as isolating and painful.

“I have a brother from the same father. When he died, not a single actor or actress showed up,” he said.

Roy De-Nani further disclosed devastating family losses, stating that he lost both his son and daughter, who were living with sickle cell disorder, due to an inability to afford essential blood transfusions.

“I lost my son, I lost my daughter because they needed blood transfusion so they could continue living, but there was no money to buy the blood, and they died,” he said.

The actor added that he does not necessarily accuse Nollywood colleagues of indifference, but suggested that many had not been moved to intervene during his period of crisis.

“Nollywood never came to assist me. Not that they don’t care, but they have not been touched,” he added.

Roy De-Nani, who has been part of Nollywood since the early 2000s, is known for his roles during the industry’s formative years.

His early appearances included the 2001 film Hatred and the 2002 production Long John, both of which contributed to his presence in the expanding Nigerian cinema landscape.
