Shirley Igwe suspension controversy: AGN suspends Nollywood actress indefinitely after she allegedly assaulted a crew member during film production

The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has placed Nollywood actress Shirley Igwe on indefinite suspension following allegations of misconduct on a film set.

According to reports, Igwe allegedly slapped a member of the Creative Designers Guild of Nigeria (CDGN) during production. The AGN responded swiftly by issuing a statement announcing her suspension.

The Guild said the action followed “violence, and indiscipline actions capable of discrediting the acting profession.” It also directed all members to avoid working with Igwe for the time being.

“Members are hereby directed to refrain from participating in any film production involving her,” the statement read.

While the AGN has launched a further investigation into the matter, the development has sparked widespread discussion across Nollywood circles.

A crew member familiar with the situation said, “The incident was uncalled for and shook everyone on set. We’re glad the Guild is taking it seriously.”

The actress has not yet made a public statement on the allegations.
