Speaking in an interview with Sunday Sun, Thelma reflected on her early passion for performing, recalling how her childhood peers already recognised her flair for acting and music.

“This has always been what I wanted to do. I studied Theatre Arts and eventually found myself in film. I am living the dream,” she said.

The actress admitted that like many of her colleagues, she once left Nollywood when financial challenges threatened to derail careers. However, she returned as opportunities grew with digital platforms.

“Film is paying my bills in full blast now. To earn well comes with hierarchy, popularity and hard work,” she explained.

On the generational shift within the industry, Thelma observed that younger actors excel at branding and social media visibility, while veteran performers often place greater emphasis on skill and character interpretation.

She cautioned that some new entrants prioritise looks over performance, undermining authenticity in storytelling.

Addressing the rise of cosmetic surgeries among actresses, Thelma stressed that such choices are personal but warned of potential health risks. She noted, “Confidence is key.

If it won’t affect your health in the future, fine. For me, I’m satisfied with how God made me.”

Offering heartfelt advice to aspiring actors, Thelma highlighted discipline, spirituality, and perseverance as the cornerstones of success. “Acting is very spiritual.

Whatever you play might affect you, depending on how you handle it. Pray, study, work hard, keep upgrading, and never exchange roles for favours. God alone is the lifter of men,” she urged.

She also reminded newcomers that the profession demands more than glamour. “Acting is becoming another person. Your whole psyche is involved. It is not a feel-good job. It is hard work, emotion and discipline,” she said.

Beyond acting, Thelma revealed she still nurtures her first love—music. While she does not plan to commercialise it, she hopes to explore it further as part of her creative journey.
