Uche Ogbodo admits BBL surgery was for her mental health, saying it restored her confidence after childbirth and body changes

Uche Ogbodo has revealed that she underwent a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedure, not out of vanity but as a step to restore her mental health and confidence after childbirth.

Speaking in an interview with Saturday Beats, the Nollywood actress and mother of three said she struggled with body image issues following her pregnancies, all of which were delivered through caesarean sections.

“I didn’t like what I looked like when I looked back at myself after my third baby. I felt like I owed it to myself to be happy and confident.

I had to have work done on myself for me, not for any other person, but for my mental health — to feel good, okay, and enough,” she explained.

The actress stressed that pregnancy and multiple surgeries had taken a toll on her body, adding that many mothers face similar struggles.

“Nobody is moulded in perfection, especially not mothers who have gone through caesarean sections. I did mine three times; it’s not easy to maintain that kind of body,” she said.

Unlike some celebrities who keep cosmetic procedures private, Ogbodo insisted on transparency. She criticised stars who deny going under the knife, saying it was dishonest to fans who look up to them.

“In this country, I always find it awkward that people are not honest, especially celebrities. You’re a role model, and then you lie to people who look up to you. Why are you a shining star when you cannot be a torchbearer?” she asked.

Ogbodo revealed that her husband supported her decision fully, knowing the personal struggles she faced. On the risks involved, she dismissed fears, saying:

“There’s danger in everything. There’s danger in having malaria. But I knew there was nothing to be afraid of because I was in the right hands.”

The actress concluded that her BBL journey was about self-fulfilment, not competition. “I am enough competition for myself,” she declared.
