Jamaican reggae legend Jimmy Cliff, known for hits like “Many Rivers to Cross,” has died at 81 following a seizure and pneumonia.

Iconic Jamaican reggae star Jimmy Cliff, born James Chambers, has died at the age of 81.

His death was confirmed by his wife, Latifa Chambers, who revealed that Cliff passed away after experiencing a seizure followed by pneumonia.

Cliff was a global ambassador for reggae music, with a career spanning decades.

He is best known for timeless hits such as “You Can Get It If You Really Want,” “Many Rivers to Cross,” and his celebrated cover of “I Can See Clearly Now.”

Beyond music, Cliff made a major cultural impact through film, most notably starring in the 1972 movie The Harder They Come, which introduced Jamaican culture and reggae music to audiences worldwide.

Over his illustrious career, Jimmy Cliff earned numerous accolades, including two Grammy Awards, Jamaica’s Order of Merit, and induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
