Renowned Nigerian musician Seun Kuti has publicly distanced himself from the ongoing dispute between Burna Boy and Speed Darlington, which has been making waves in the Nigerian music scene.

In a recent Instagram Live session, Seun Kuti took the opportunity to address the situation, clarifying that while Burna Boy had gifted him diamond jewellery, this gesture did not make him the artist’s close adviser.

Kuti was firm in his stance, stating that he had no intention of becoming embroiled in the conflict.

“Don’t involve me in Burna Boy and Speed Darlington’s case; just because I collected a diamond from him doesn’t mean I’m his close adviser,” Seun Kuti emphasised, urging fans and the media to refrain from associating him with the ongoing saga.

Kuti also spoke out on Speed Darlington’s accusation, which alleged that Burna Boy had an illicit relationship with Diddy.

According to Kuti, Diddy played a significant role in the rise of Speed Darlington’s career, particularly by reposting his hit song “Bangdadang,” a move that propelled the track to prominence.

Seun Kuti made it clear that despite his long musical career, Diddy had never reposted any of his songs.

“Diddy was even the one who made Speed Darlington popular. He reposted ‘Bangdadang,’ which made the song popular. I’ve done a lot of songs, and Diddy never posted any of them, but he reposted Speed Darlington’s song,” Kuti explained.

Seun Kuti’s comments come as the drama between Burna Boy and Speed Darlington continues to captivate the public, with both musicians dominating social media conversations.

Odumodublvck prioritises impact

Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck emphasises his focus on creating impact rather than chasing fame in the music industry, redefining success

Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has revealed that fame is not a driving force in his music career. Speaking during an episode of Hip TV’s Trending, the artist shared his unconventional perspective on success, stating that his primary goal is to make a meaningful impact.

“I have never tried to be famous,” Odumodublvck explained. “The way people say they want fame or money—it’s never been about that for me.

When I started my music career, I only thought about doing nice stuff and impacting people with it.”

The rapper, whose breakout hit Picanto featuring Ecko Miles and Zlatan Ibile gained him significant attention in 2022, highlighted that promoting his music naturally brought visibility.

However, he distinguishes between this type of fame and the stereotypical idea of being “rich and famous.”

“Promoting myself equates to being famous, but that kind of fame is different from the TV’s ‘rich and famous.’ I have never bought into that context,” he added.

Odumodublvck’s artistry has not gone unnoticed. In March 2023, his hit single Declan Rice cemented his position in the industry, and it gained international recognition when Arsenal Football Club used the track to announce their signing of the player Declan Rice in July 2023.
